    Each year at the American Solar Energy Society's (ASES) National Solar Conference, ASES presents awards in various categories to outstanding research, technology, policy, education, industry, student, and volunteer leaders. The nominations are solicited from the ASES community and membership.

    ASES is accepting nominations for the following awards and Fellow recognitions to be presented at SOLAR 2022, taking place June 21-24 in Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico:

     

    • Charles Greeley Abbot Award - Outstanding contributions to the advancement of solar energy through innovative research and development (R&D).
    • Hoyt Clarke Hottel Award – Recognizes significant contribution(s) in the unique and innovative application of one or more solar technologies, or tools that support the enabling of solar technologies, resulting in successful commercial endeavors.
    • Leadership in Solar Architecture and Design Award - Outstanding contributions related to the use of solar, low-energy and sustainable building design strategies.
    • Rebecca Vories Award - Outstanding ASES volunteer who has significantly advanced ASES's ability to meet its mission.
    • John & Barbara Yellott Award - Graduate student with recognized accomplishments concentrating on solar energy in an institution of higher learning.
    • Women in Solar Energy Award - Outstanding woman having significant and long-time contributions in solar energy.
    • Leadership in Solar Policy and Market Transformation – Demonstration of extraordinary leadership and innovations in solar policy and market transformation crucial to the widespread adoption of solar and renewable energy and the ASES mission.
    • ASES Fellows – ASES members who have served with distinction in the advancement of solar energy utilization by way of research, education, public service, and/or service to ASES.

    More detailed descriptions of each award are included below and on the ASES Awards webpage. Nominations are also submitted through the ASES website. NOTE THAT THE PROCEDURES, NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS, CRITERIA, AND AWARD ELIGIBILITIES ARE UPDATED FOR THE 2022 AWARDS.

     

    All nominations now require a nomination form submission, a nominee resume (or short bio for the Vories award), and two (2) letters of support. Self-nominations are not allowed and the letters of support must come from individuals other than the nominator. All nomination forms must be completed by a current ASES Member and submitted no later than February 15, 2022. Nominations packages (nomination form, nominee resume, and two letters of support) must be completed by this date and sent to awards@ases.org.

     

    Nominations for ASES Fellows recognize members of ASES who have served with distinction in the advancement of solar energy by way of research, education, public service, and/or service to ASES. Fellow nominees must have been an ASES member for at least ten cumulative years. An eligible member must be nominated by three members of ASES in good standing, at least one of whom is a Fellow. Submit Fellows letters of nomination to fellows@ases.org.

    Nominations, including the completed (online) form, nominee's resume, other documentation, and seconding letters are due no later than February 15, 2022. Submit the nomination form on the corresponding awards webpage and send the two letters of support and nominee's resume to Awards Committee Chair L.L. Kazmerski at awards@ases.org. You can also contact awards@ases.org if you have any questions or need additional information.

     

    To submit a Fellows nomination, please send letters of nomination to the ASES 2022 Fellows Committee at fellows@ases.org by February 15, 2022. Note: an eligible member must be nominated by three members of ASES in good standing, at least one of whom is a Fellow.
