The energy efficiency first piece causes eyes to glaze over. Old "Flip the Switch" mentality demands an easier solution. No solutions seem to come from landlords. The 50 states and thousands of municipalities clench the keys while taking serious campaign funds from Big Fossil. "It's too expensive" rings out while On-Bill Financing is a solution for all. Ratepayers deserve more. In someways we are going backwards as citizen education is more along the lines of "Ugly, Polluting, Takes more energy to build a module than it produces....
After 60 years our mighty Hudson River is returning to cooler temperatures as the final Indian Point nuclear powered, water boiling kettle has been shut down. Maybe the shad will return. Until the infamous repository is ready only the the thinner Holtec casks will store rods in sheds. Mining and transporting uranium is not carbon-free. There's the rub.
The economics of energy efficiency basically says it'll pay for itself. Unfortunately, banging on the doors of landlords and businesses, selling audits, consulting on remediation will require a well trained and motivated workforce. Anyone looking at the data? Carbon Tax Time?

| What a rapid transition from fossil fuels to carbon-free energy alternatives looks like | If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything it is that an early, science-based response to a rapidly unfolding disaster is critical. In recent years we have witnessed the mounting effects of climate change in the form of droughts, worsening storms, more frequent floods and record wildfires. | View this on TheHill > |
