Thank you for sharing this, Steve! I'm adding @Kat Friedrich, editor in chief of Solar Today, to see if she would be interested in including an article on EV charging with bidirectional charging/inverters. Thank you for your feedback and insight!

Subject: bidirectional EV bus and vehicle charging with solar
Hi Ella:
I would be good to have an article on EV charging with bidirectional charging/inverters. Related to that, use of solar and off-peak low cost electricity, making fossil fuel cost comparison of under $1 per gallon.
My focus has been on the large distribution grid capacity that is completely ignored. All the capacity we need is inside the distribution grid. No MISO / ISO delays. There are issues getting utility and community solar going inside the distribution grid, and that could be discussed. Lack of knowledge from utility technicians, contracts with dirty power, local ownership vs investor owned/PPA's, integrating the new advanced inverters, etc, How to get that story out there.
We do need a bit more transmission, but mostly to connect off-shore wind power, which will make energy 90% of the time, with wind capacity factors approaching 60%. And off-shore solar?
Cheers,
Steve Smiley
