The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon® Design Challenge is seeking collegiate student participants from diverse majors and backgrounds to join the next round of the zero energy building design competition. Student designs are judged across 10 Contests focused on embodied carbon, climate resilience, and community impact. Gather your interdisciplinary team and register by October 18, 2023, at 5 p.m. EDT!
Student teams from around the world compete in one of four divisions with a retrofit or new construction design across residential and commercial building types. Finalists are selected at the virtual Semifinal Competition Event in February 2024. All teams, regardless of Finalist status, are invited to participate during the hybrid Solar Decathlon Competition Event in April 2024, virtually or in person at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado.
