As a mechanical engineer with solar energy experience, converting a vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine (I.C.E.) to an electric vehicle (E.V.) necessitates the removal of the engine by a certified mechanic and the installation of the battery pack, 1 or 2 electric motors, high voltage cables, and associated instrumentation by a certified EV specialist. Depending on the available space, the EV specialist can advise you on the battery pack and electric motors. So, I recommend that you look for a qualified/certified person to do the job.

Subject: conversion of old cars (2000 Toyota Echo) to a local run-about E.V. and companies that do these conversions.
I have an older I.C.E. Toyota Echo with 277,000+ miles that still runs well, but that I would like to convert to an E.V. with 50 mile range on a single charge. I don't want to do the conversion myself, but find a reliable conversion company to do the work. Any suggestions?
