  • 1.  How To Find A Solar Thermal Professional

    Posted 5 days ago

Is there any kind of solar thermal directory for thermal professionals in the United States?

I'm well aware of the fact that "thermal is dead," etc., and don't need to hear that. What I need is a solar thermal professional, ideally in Upstate New York.

    Good morning Dan Antonioli

I'm a renewable energy engineer with knowledge of thermal energy; perhaps I can help you.

Hi Henry. I believe my question is straightforward and I'm hoping to stick to it instead of getting sidetracked, as has happened multiple times with the solar thermal questions. (I used to work for a solar thermal contractor and am versed in the technology.)

Let me put this more succinctly. If you needed a solar thermal contractor in Dryden, New York, how would you find one. Or better yet, can you locate a solar thermal professional who will work in Dryden? I've exhausted the local Ithaca area and everyone is either retired or only interested in telling stories about solar thermal before clarifying that they no longer work in solar thermal. It's an odd bunch!

Unfortunately, I don't know the list of professional contractors in Dryden NY, however I'll be on the lookout if I can help.

Hi Dan! I'm adding our Solar Thermal Division team @Henry Vandermark, @William Guiney, and @Jessica Chrisman to see if they can add any insight!

I'm only aware of the SHIPs database: https://energieatlas.aee-intec.at/index.php/view/map?repository=ship&project=ship_edit

    • The Solar Heat in Industrial Processes (SHIP) market, while still relatively small, is experiencing steady global growth and holds significant potential. To demonstrate its feasibility and viability across various applications, it is essential to provide best practice examples. The SHIP Plants Database serves this purpose by continuously tracking new systems, offering georeferenced information, and presenting key performance indicators of SHIP plants.

Hi Ella. This map is cryptic, don't see how to open information on the pinned locations.

Hi Dan, it works for me on Chrome when I click on the pins. @Henry Vandermark is the one who told me about this database, so I"ll let him chime in, incase he has any additional insights on the map. Thank you!

Try NABCEP certified people. They were one of the "must belong to" certs when thermal was still hot (No pun).

I will not bore you with all the reasons solar thermal (In this country) kind of bit the dust....
