Happy National Solar Tour Showcase Weekend!
Hundreds of tours are happening across the U.S. this weekend, showing off real-world solar and sustainability features. Here's one worth a visit if you're in Minnesota:
National Solar Tour Spotlight: Passive House-style home in Corcoran, MN
Hosted by Jessica Fishman, MBA
This 1,500 sq ft, all-electric home packs a lot into a small footprint:
🔆 Passive solar design: a thick building envelope, high-solar-gain windows on the south side, and a concrete floor that acts as thermal mass
⚡13 kW PV system
🔥Heat pumps for heating, cooling, water heating, and clothes drying, plus an induction/convection stove and oven
🌬️ Ultra-tight envelope: 0.34 ACH, about 90% better than code
🌱 A south-facing indoor greenhouse for year-round food growing
💧 A toilet with a built-in sink on top that reuses greywater
📉 HERS score of -32, meaning the home produces more energy than it uses
Tour it in person Saturday, Oct 3 or Sunday, Oct 4. RSVP here: https://map.nationalsolartour.org/sites/cmfhn827x00006xf9hf8sxy43
