Hi all, someone reached out to me regarding solar and business tenants, and I'm hoping someone in this forum can assist me with answering it. Please see their question below:

"My city announcing a new tax-incentive-financing district to incentivize commercial retail property owners to bring in solar. The retail area is an economically challenged area, and the buildings are older.

My question is, what other programs have you seen or heard about that engage and empower the biz tenants to put pressure on the property owners to bring in an improvement like solar energy? Most of these landowners pass all costs to the biz tenants in triple net leases. So hard to figure out how to incentivize the tenant when the one with the most benefit is the landlord."

I really appreciate any help you can provide,
    Ella

When I worked at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, we talked about the landlord/tenant incentive issue. They might have some suggestions about what is happening in the energy efficiency context.

That's a great call Kat.  BTW, Steve Nadel leads ACEEE and is a former ED of NESEA, so his ASES roots are strong! :)
