Each Tuesday at noon (Eastern) solarPVtraining.com hosts a Zoom sessions for students (or anyone, really) interested in solar.

Generally discussion focuses on technical questions, problems or troubleshooting - or just what is happening in solar that week.

This week we take a look at Enphase's 4th Generation product line and explore what is new and improved from their 3rd generation offerings.

Thanks Jay  Doing some research on this thing here as well,

4th-generation Enphase Energy System, which was launched on July 29, 2025.

The key components of this system include:

IQ Battery 10C: - This is a significant upgrade from the previous generation's battery, offering 10 kWh of usable energy capacity and delivering 7.08 kW of continuous power. It features lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry for safety and longevity. The IQ Battery 10C also boasts a 34% greater energy density compared to the previous model, meaning more stored energy in a smaller physical footprint. This increased density allows for a 62% reduction in wall space required for installation.
IQ Meter Collar: - This component simplifies whole-home backup by providing microgrid interconnection device (MID) functionality and eliminating the need to relocate circuits to a backup sub-panel. It mounts behind the utility meter.
IQ Combiner 6C: - This combines interconnection equipment into a single, streamlined enclosure, reducing complexity and enhancing functionality.

The new 4th generation Enphase products, like the IQ Battery 10C, are designed to reduce installation costs compared to previous versions. While Enphase doesn't publicly advertise specific pricing, industry estimates suggest the IQ Battery 10C is priced around $1,300 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) and a complete system with two IQ 5P batteries may cost between $15,000 and $17,000 before incentives. Purchasing the previous generation IQ 10T battery could potentially save approximately $2,000, but it provides half the power output of the newer battery.

Enphase Energy is implementing a workforce reduction, cutting approximately 17% of its global work force which equates to around 500 employees and contractors. This downsizing is part of a restructuring plan to streamline operations and reduce costs due to a slowdown in the residential solar market, particularly in Europe. The company will also be closing its contract manufacturing site in Guadalajara, Mexico.
