"Overreliance on artificial intelligence tools and chatbots like ChatGPT, Bard, Dall-E and others is a losing game. But that doesn't mean solar companies should turn their backs on this new technology. Solar companies are all about embracing emerging tech, right?

Energy Circle, the digital marketing company where I work, focuses exclusively on contractors, businesses and organizations in the clean energy and energy efficiency sectors. We've been experimenting heavily with AI tools since 2022.

We've always operated under the guiding principle that great marketing requires real-world expertise and a human touch. Adding AI into our toolbox doesn't change that. Any solar company curious about artificial intelligence should know that there are plenty of ways to benefit, but only if you strike the right balance between human and robot."

I would agree it is a losing game, for humans in the long run. I would say that statement is true at this moment in time, in that you can overextend expectations of a given tech at a given point in time.

That is, you cannot expect a Boston Dynamics robot to seat you at your dining room table, and having cooked an entire meal for you, serve it!, Yet. But it will in time. Human labor will be wiped out, practically speaking. And if the Wealth systems are still in place when that happens, well, that is the material of very dark Hollywood Dystopian films, like Soylent Green. Gotta put them to use somehow....

Yes, @william fitch, AI is going to continue to be highly disruptive of the economy. As a journalist at ASES, I see it as my job to know how AI works in the news sense, so I have been taking classes with the University of Texas at Austin and the Associated Press. But I also am not using AI text or graphics anywhere in Solar Today. We experimented with using Zoom AI to take meeting notes at ASES, but found it was not satisfactory. I have been using ChatGPT to do some office brainstorming by giving it non-proprietary information. As the article says, there are many applications for AI in office environments, but the quality of the results often is not good.

Hi Kat. I totally get it, the look and experiment aspect. If one is forced to navigate a mine field, best to do it with your eyes and ears open. The biggest (Not only) problem I have with tech is that it is, in essence, going after human development. The driver is simple, cost and profit. If you told companies they can use tech but CANNOT nuke employees in the process, in short, tech can be used to augment people, not replace them, you would see a huge shift in human labor in a positive direction.

Sadly, even with that, there is a very old simple rule that seems to apply to organic life forms. If you don't use it you loose it. Applies to muscle and brain capabilities. It is why learning is tied so closely to doing. We learn by doing, well, not to much longer.....

Stephen Hawking had quite allot of thoughts on this issue, IE AI.

    Thanks for the response...

I totally agree with your comment about learning by doing. I observe that in my work all the time.
