Ok. On a slightly different time scale, IE not Billions of years, to put it as simply as possible, there are people who are realists and people who look through Rose colored glasses. Realists are not doom and gloomers. They see things how they are, how they could be and how they were. If they see a woman getting raped, they see it for what it is and decide how best to take action. Rose colored glass's people think the assailants are just feeling the pretty fabric she is wearing, thus avoiding the whole actual situation and the related stresses and associated risk of ACTION.
You can decide who you are....
On a different note, happy promotes business sales and profit... so there is that interest....

We are all endowed with the ability to dream and envision the future so why not make that vision a good one. To walk about the planet with a bunch of gloom and doom might not be the best way to get along with the days. I don't know what it is, but people who wear rose colored glasses in the face of global atrocities pisses me off.
I think it runs along the same lines as Dante's saying, "The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality." If you wear rose colored glasses, such a position becomes much easier. Denial of the reality, therefore no recognition or action is required.
You should go visit one of the many war zones and ethnic cleansing actions going on at this very moment. There are many to choose from if you care to look.
Or you could turn a blind eye and keep looking at the cute little girl with the Earth beach ball.

A medium of exchange is needed to do business between parties. Burn for energy is becoming obsolete, as also war between nations if less than lets say WW2. The environment will survive as is probably the most resilient of lifeforms, biosphere - on the planet right down to the microbes. Such a "view" (IE the scale and associated judgements) is extremely siloed vision.. The social history of man under currency and the likability of war for power and profit, will not go away until currency is gone. It is simple fact. A far simpler "casting" for human judgement as primitive or advanced, are these three parameters:
DO we war?
Do we burn for energy?
Do we kill the environment?
If you cannot answer NO to all three of those, sorry, you are still a cave man.

We have noticed that if current solar technologies stay on track with implementations quadrupling over time especially with spacefaring, the human species seems to be heading towards a type 2 civilization on the Kardashev scale.
