Few days ago, the Solar PV system installed in a school was disabled because of the emissions of smoke from the batteries.

I have given some of the reasons that could be responsible for this emissions.
1. Overcharging If the batteries are overcharged, they can heat up and cause smoke. Overcharging can occur if the solar panels are producing more power than the batteries can handle or if there is a malfunction in the charging system.
2. Short circuit: A short circuit can occur when the positive and negative terminals of a battery come into contact with each other, causing a spark and potentially igniting the battery. This can happen due to faulty wiring or damaged battery terminals.
3. Overheating: Batteries can overheat if they are exposed to high temperatures, either due to environmental factors or because of internal malfunctions.
4. Age or damage: Batteries can degrade over time, which can cause them to malfunction and produce smoke. Damage to the batteries, such as physical impacts or exposure to moisture, can also cause them to fail.
5. Incorrect installation or maintenance: Incorrect installation or maintenance of the solar system can also cause problems with the batteries, such as incorrect wiring or inadequate ventilation
