    M. Keith Sharp, Emeritus Professor, ASME Fellow, and P.E. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisville (UL) received a B.S. from the University of Cincinnati in 1976, M.S. from Colorado State University (CSU) in 1978, and Sc.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1987, all in Mechanical Engineering. He was Director of the Biofluid Mechanics Laboratory and the Renewable Energy Applications Laboratory at UL. He studied stratification in solar thermal storage at CSU and gas transport in the lung at MIT. Current interests include flow and transport in the cerebrospinal system, flow-induced hemolysis, and heating and cooling of buildings from ambient sources of energy. Learn more about Keith in our Q&A!

Keith's spotlight is well-deserved especially with the attention to ambient energy. It so easy to focus on adding PV panels and neglect the important first step of efficiency first. With his home having almost zero heating and cooling load, it really shines in that department with the passive heating and cooling strategies. The tool he is developing takes into account much more than just large r-values. Look for his session at SOLAR 2024 during the Wednesday solar buildings sessions, and later on the National Solar Tour where he has showcased his home virtually. ASES members are continuously sharing and educating others.
