If you are opening your property for the solar tour, make sure that your ENTIRE property is up to code.   I participated in the tour one year, and I ended up getting SUED. Gentleman claimed he fell off my porch and it didn't have rails. Rails are only required if the height is more than 32 inches. Fortunately I had a camera covering the location and it proved he did NOT fall!  All kinds of CRANKS are out there just looking for people to take advantage of. For that reason, I no longer do the solar tour, even though I'm a NABCEP certified installer (and BSEE).

That is so unfortunate.  We do hear that some tour hosts restrict where people can go on their property.  Exterior only is common.

If you or others have similar concerns, you can always just do a virtual tour and then advertise it locally on social media or local news. Viewers can then at least see that there is solar in your area which can inspire them to also incorporate solar or other sustainable technologies. You can then choose whether or not to post your email address for those who may have questions.
