Bio

I spent 31 years teaching and doing research at Mines. I am Emeritus Faculty in the Mechanical Engineering Department. I'm still doing a bit of AI robotic welding research with my last graduate student Dr. Adewole Ayoade.

I have had a passion for solar energy since the early 70's when there was the oil embargo and folks sat in long lines to get gas. Having grown up in New Mexico the sun and its energy have been a big part of my life always. First it was solar thermal and learning how to capture solar energy to warm my house, which I never did, and later it was designing and installing a solar PV system on my house to capture photons and use them for our electric energy usage, which I did do in 2010. I added another 2.5kW of solar PV in 2022, and now have an electric car powered by the sun.

I want to help everyone to transition to renewable energy where the cost is on the front end but the benefit is for a lifetime.
