Kevin: When you are on the victim side, you will personally know how damaging it can be. Corruption in a currency based world knows no boundaries by vocation or interest. That is simple fact. If you disagree, take off your rose colored glasses. We as humans do not suffer the fate or feelings of our neighbors, ...

Yes, location is everything. I did a fun calc once for storage needed for off grid. 500KWH was in the ball park. But that did not address the peak loading issues with simultaneous EV loadings or heavy inductive loads like an electric welder, motors, etc.. I am not a fan of off grid because it does not ...

Yes, we (At the moment) have net meter in PA. Makes a HUGE difference. I have Geo-thermal HP so only have to deal with a single edge sword (Not double) regarding all loads. I am pure electric (No resistance) and solar. No FFI. I burn wood now and then but not for heat. Pure enjoyment. If it were me ...

Yes, but I think is is fairly likely that he is going to be grid tied. By the numbers, there are not too many office buildings out in the middle of nowhere without grid power, so I don't think the limb I was out on was too far. Look, you can throw all the data out there you want. There is never a shortage ...

Hi: Yes, well. I caught the phrase, "New building below". SO in essence the old building in its entirety is really out of the equation for thermal anal. The question seems to be, we are going to build a new structure of "X" size, etc.. How should we heat it..??.. Broad stroke: To talk about solar, orientation ...

That all makes sense. Adding structural "pieces" plus another physical layer would protect below. And as mentioned, its just going to get worse so standards and possibly basic design might require an update for "normal" roof codes. Happy holidays... Gened 19.325 MWH's this year. Only off 50 KWH's from ...

"yet around 40 percent of existing commercial buildings can't go solar because most solar panels are too heavy. " WHAT!! Are you kidding me. That can not be correct. The sqft load of solar panels is around 2 to 2.5 lb sqft. That is nothing for a added roof load, even at the residential level let alone ...

Here in Orange township PA, just a stones throw from where I live, an article in the Press Enterprise caught my eye. "Citizen offers solar map Orange supers crafting energy 'farm' rules." Almost sounds benevolent and pro solar doesn't it. Pulling several segments from the article: "ORANGE TWP. - ...

"Any company that doesn't reply to said request within 61 days, per the model bill, would be "presumed to be boycotting energy companies." Guilty until proven innocent. The Gorilla in the room (FFI) caught a cold and now is whining about it. Personally I don't see any of this as new. Whether it is cigarettes, ...

Yes, well, I will just leave this screen shot from Battery University (Not aligned with any company) for posters on this thread to read. They can draw their own conclusions. Here is the link to their website that also deals with other Li issues. https://batteryuniversity.com/article/bu-808-how-to- ...

Yes, well... its the throwaway/commodity based mentality. If is cheap and made by the millions, make it low quality, last a couple of years then throw away. If it is more expensive than put a bit of quality into it, etc.. The whole planned obsolesce that maximizes profit, like forever, is a direct contradiction ...

I think you will find the problem is that when you try to join thermal with PV, it becomes a "practical" problem rather than a heat transfer problem. Pulling thermal energy using liquid transfer drags in all the liquid infrastructure with it. Think freezing climates, anti-freeze 50/50, heat exchanger ...

To keep this short'ish, I will only talk about Li batteries. 80% seems to be the sweet spot for them regarding life, generically speaking. Different specific Li tech make various claims about this topic though. If it were me, I would "float" them at 80%. However, say once a quarter, I would take them ...

I played around with concentrators back in the day as well. However from a practical perspective, concentrating sunlight is only realistic where 80+% of the total energy comes in direct form (Clear sky country). And you need active tracking as well. The path you plan to take, I.E. throw PV at the load ...

"Should not the battery health advice given for my Tesla also apply to my solar electric storage battery??" YES!! About a month and a half ago, I got a call from a aggregator type contractor, who wanted me to look at a SolarEdge system that was having an issue. It was a Solar Edge Energy hub system with ...

Thanks for the Sche. My god, that is a confusing drawing. The whole two panel thing (Two panels in parallel) makes something relatively simple into complex. Current in a conductor is everywhere the same. Lets say you were gening 5 amps to panel 1 and 5 amps to panel 2. Any current measuring device I ...

There have been different configurations over the years for combining them (Heat + Elect). I personally think going regular solar thermal for SDHW and or space heating than add regular PV for the elect. is a better solution. A typical install would be 2 evac tube collectors (60 tubes) with an 80 gallon ...
